Victoria G. Parker

Introducing the Matriarch: Victoria G. Parker “Big Mama”, A Life Defined by Faith, Resilience, and Triumph Over Adversity

In the annals of history, there are those whose lives embody the essence of strength and determination, shining as beacons of hope amidst the
darkest times. Such is the story of Big Mama, a remarkable woman whose journey through life traversed a landscape of struggle, racism,
and abject poverty. Yet, her unwavering faith in God was the guiding force that propelled her forward, surviving her hardships toward a
brighter future.

Born into a world fraught with inequality, Big Mama encountered the formidable challenges of racism, discrimination, and limited
opportunities. From an early age, she experienced the profound injustices that permeated society, often depriving her of necessities. Yet,
despite these daunting obstacles, her faith in God remained unshakeable, providing her with solace, strength, and a steadfast belief that a better
tomorrow was possible.

Her life was filled with sacrifice. Big Mama endured countless sleepless nights, toiling tirelessly to provide for her family, often working
multiple jobs as a domestic housekeeper to make ends meet. She faced the sting of racism, battling against the pervasive prejudice that sought
to confine her to the margins of society. But through it all, her faith in God remained a constant source of hope, reminding her that she was not
alone in her struggles.

She became a source of solace and guidance, offering unwavering support to those in need and reminding them that their circumstances did not
define their worth. She had 2 older sisters , Gertrude Parker Brown, respectfully known as “Nanny” and Estelle Parker  loving know as “Mama Stella”. She also had a number of step siblings who completed the family. Big Mama was the mother of 3
children, Mildred Green Singleton, Emily Robinson and Will Edwards.

We witness the struggles she and her children endured, the battles they fought, and the triumphs they achieved. Her children’s children have
decided to unite to honor her life with a biannual family reunion, celebrating our legacy with new beginnings and illuminating a path toward
triumph over adversity.

Her life is a testament to the power of unyielding faith, unwavering determination, and the remarkable resilience that can arise from despair.
Through her story, the Big Mama, our Matriarch, beckons us to find strength in our struggles, reminding us that we can overcome the greatest
challenges life presents with faith as our guide.
